Parkend House: 1834 - 2003
When searching the Web for information on the first place I lived, the village of Parkend, Gloucestershire, I found more than I expected. I came to the Wikipedia entry for Parkend, which included the sentence: "A new housing development now stands on the site of the old Parkend House Hotel."
When I was born, my parents were living in a flat in Parkend House, which later became a hotel; it was my first home. My parents visited Parkend and spent a couple of nights in the hotel 40 years after they had moved into the flat.
I also found a page for the Forest of Dean Local History Society, whose most recent annual journal includes an article on the history of the house.
